Button, button, who has the button?

We have carried the brands JHB and Dill buttons on cards for quite some time. Now I have also started to order buttons in a tube from Dill. They are a little more sparkly or different then the average button. The selection includes large eyed buttons, skull and cross bones, large pearly discs, and gemstones. The newest arrivals have a Celtic knot style with a warrior twist, getting ready for the Renaissance. We also have satin covered bridal buttons, a few classic styles of a man's suit and shirt buttons, and full metal buttons. Many of these buttons are reorderable.

The best way to know a button will fit is to bring the garment or an old button. The garment is especially helpful with an oddly shaped button; square, oblong or a chicken.

Handmade Silks from Southeast Asia

I am just starting to document many of the wonderful fabrics we have at Sally's Fabric @ Baseline Rd. I am very proud of the fabrics we are able to provide. Please visit often to watch me catch up!

One my favorite fibers is silk. Who doesn't like silk? It takes on so many forms and functions. I received a shipment of varying silks from Vietnam and Cambodia. I took photos, but it really does not do the iridescent beauty of these fabrics justice. The fabrics are produced using traditional dying and weaving techniques from the Southeast Asia region. Hand made on antique looms traditionally by women, weaving is an important source of income for rural families.

I have a few pieces of Shantung Taffeta, Pongee, Cambodian Tissue, Barathea, Marcelline and a Cambodian Ikat in a red hue.

We have many pieces of silks, other textures and even a few knits. More on these fabrics later.
